Modifiers change the match configuration without creating a separate universal rulebook. Dated public notes for GroovyII’s Monopoly name Starting Cash, Free Parking, and Auctioning. The current list, defaults, numeric ranges, compatibility, and host permissions remain live-menu facts.
Documented modifier index
This index is currently documented rather than complete. Do not invent more modifiers from traditional house rules or other Monopoly games.
Starting Cash
Starting Cash changes the opening scale of purchases, bids, reserves, and development. Read the selected amount from the current setup. A strategy written for one value can be too cautious or too aggressive under another.
When comparing two matches, normalize choices against starting resources and actual property costs rather than using a copied number. Public evidence does not establish today’s range or default.
Free Parking
The July 18 note describes a pooled-money rule: taxes and fines go to the center, and the player landing on Free Parking claims it. Because this was introduced as a modifier, it should not be presented as always active.
Verify which payments enter the pool, where the amount is displayed, whether a payout resets it, and whether the selected map changes presentation. Do not plan around winning an uncertain landing.
Auctioning
The July 18 note connected auctions to properties that players do not purchase; the July 21 note made Auctioning optional. Confirm the toggle before assuming a declined purchase must trigger bidding.
Minimum bids, increments, timers, eligibility, and ties are not public. Use the live auction panel and Auctions guide.
Check compatibility
Before queuing, review the map, game mode, player count, bots, and every modifier together. A setting may be disabled, restricted, or interpreted differently in a particular mode. Capture the final summary if you want to reproduce a rule.
Do not assume the lobby host, queue participant, or party member has the same permissions in every flow. Follow current controls.
Modifier troubleshooting
If the match does not reflect the summary, record both. Rejoin once, read Lobby Notes, and test the same setup only if it does not disrupt others. For Free Parking, separate visual display from payout behavior. For Auctioning, capture the decline and missing or unexpected trigger.
Modifiers FAQ
Is Free Parking always on?
No. It is documented as a modifier.
Is Auctioning optional?
Yes, according to the July 21 public note.
What is the Starting Cash range?
Check the live selector; no current range is asserted.
Are these all modifiers?
They are the publicly documented set from the available evidence, not a claimed complete current list.
Verification card
Record modifier name, exact description, values, default state, map/mode compatibility, who can change it, resulting rule, check date, and screenshot context. This turns a one-off observation into a useful reproducible fact.
Compare modifier combinations
One modifier can change the value of another. Higher or lower Starting Cash changes auction ceilings; optional Auctioning changes the opportunity cost of declining; a Free Parking pool changes the range of possible cash swings. Do not analyze a toggle in isolation when several are active.
For a useful comparison, keep map, mode, and player count constant and change one modifier. Record opening resources, the relevant trigger, displayed result, and match date. A single controlled comparison is more informative than two screenshots from unrelated lobbies.
Hosting etiquette
Make unusual settings visible to the group before the match starts. Do not assume everyone recognizes a modifier icon. Confirm the final summary, allow players to opt out, and avoid changing settings during a pending queue unless the UI clearly communicates the change.
